US and allies deploy unprecedented air-defence shield amid rising Iran-related threats

U.S. Central Command chief Brad Cooper said the United States and partner nations have activated the world’s largest integrated air-defence system to deter Iranian attacks following a deadly Houthi strike on Riyadh’s airport.

At the Trends Global summit in Abu Dhabi, Admiral Brad Cooper announced that U.S. forces and Middle Eastern partners have created the most extensive air-defence umbrella ever assembled, integrating national radar and missile systems across the region. The network, validated during Operation Epic Fury, has already intercepted thousands of Iranian-launched drones and missiles, demonstrating the practical value of the partnership.

Cooper emphasized that sustainable security relies on robust, interoperable systems and shared leadership rather than the mere absence of conflict. U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz added that modern threats ignore borders, underscoring the need for collective defense. The remarks came after a Houthi attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport killed 13 and injured over 300, intensifying concerns about the broader Iran-U.S. confrontation that has persisted for months.
