US Central Command refutes Iran's claim of control over the Strait of Hormuz

US Central Command dismissed the IRGC navy commander’s assertion that Tehran dominates the Strait of Hormuz and would sink U.S. warships.

The commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy claimed the strait was under IRGC control and that any approaching U.S. vessels would be sunk. US Central Command responded that the IRGC lacks a navy and that American forces, together with regional partners, continue to secure the waterway. The statement highlighted that U.S. forces helped move more than 19 million barrels of oil through the strait the day before.
