US Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf docks in Malaysia for joint maritime cooperation
The USCGC Bertholf arrived in Port Klang for a four-day visit, meeting Malaysian maritime officials and touring a local unmanned-air system.
The United States Coast Guard’s 127-metre Legend-class cutter Bertholf docked in Port Klang for a four-day port call aimed at strengthening maritime security ties. Commander Raphael Sadowitz oversaw engagements with the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, including discussions on law-enforcement tactics and a tour of the agency’s V-BAT unmanned aerial system. Media were given a two-hour walkthrough of the cutter’s bridge, mess areas and helicopter deck.
Following the visit, the ship will head to Sabah for a joint exercise with an MMEA vessel off Kota Kinabalu. The crew also used shore leave to explore Kuala Lumpur’s food scene. This is the cutter’s second Malaysian port call after an earlier 2024 visit.
