US Democrats accuse FIFA and Infantino of inadequate cooperation over Trump ties

In July, Representative Jamie Raskin wrote to FIFA demanding all documents that link the federation to the Trump administration, such as alleged payments to the Trump family and the failed Kushner-Infantino proposal to sell portions of the World Cup. He also sought a meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino before the House Judiciary Committee. Two months on, FIFA has delivered none of the prioritized records and has not scheduled a hearing.

A Democratic source warned that, should the party recapture the House majority in the November elections, Raskin would be able to issue subpoenas and enforce document production. FIFA’s spokesperson said the organization has held productive talks with congressional staff and remains ready to answer any further questions. The criticism follows broader calls from UEFA, AFC and CONCACAF for new leadership at FIFA after Infantino’s recent controversies.
