US Jewish voters worry Netanyahu's policies may be boosting antisemitism at home
A new poll shows most American Jews are uneasy that actions by Israel’s government under Benjamin Netanyahu are fueling antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment in the United States.
According to a poll released this week, more than half of American Jewish voters say they are deeply troubled that Israel’s actions under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have contributed to rising antisemitism and anti-Israel feeling in the US. The study, conducted by the Mellman Group for the Jewish Electorate Institute, reports that 56% of participants have a great deal of concern, with the highest anxiety among Jewish Democrats (65%), followed by independents (46%) and Republicans (34%).
Although 86% of those surveyed identify as pro-Israel, many also express criticism of Israeli policies, and 61% view Netanyahu unfavorably while 67% would prefer a different leader in Israel’s next election. Views on US military aid to Israel are split, with a portion favoring cuts or termination. Awareness of pro-Israel activity in recent primary races has risen, and opinions on the organization AIPAC remain divided.
