US-returned son allegedly kills estranged father in Gujarat over money dispute
Kalpesh Prajapati, who had come back from the United States, is accused of beating his father Kantilal to death with a wooden stick during a family quarrel in Kalol, Gujarat.
In Kalol, Gujarat, a family dispute over money turned violent when Kantilal, who had been living apart from his wife Madhu for about 16 years, approached her home wielding a wooden stick and demanded cash. Madhu called their son Kalpesh Prajapati, who had returned from the United States six months earlier, to intervene. Kalpesh arrived at his father's stall near Kapiraj Shopping Centre, and the conversation quickly degenerated into a heated argument.
He later returned, picked up a stick lying nearby, and repeatedly struck Kantilal on the head and body. The father collapsed, was taken to Kalol Civil Hospital, and died while receiving treatment. Kalol City police have registered a murder case under the relevant provisions of the BNS and the Gujarat Police Act, and Kalpesh was arrested later that evening.
