US sanctions Turkish Golden Global Bank and its affiliates over Iran trade links
The U.S. Treasury Department added Golden Global Yatirim Bankasi and its two subsidiaries, Golden Global Portfoy Yonetimi Anonim Sirketi and Golden Global Varlik Kiralama Anonim Sirketi, to the Specially Designated Nationals list, effectively barring them from the dollar‑based financial network and issuing a general license for winding down existing transactions. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the move is intended to increase economic pressure on Iran amid rising diesel prices in the United States.
The sanctions target entities alleged to have enabled trade between China and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Qods Force. Golden Global Bank, founded in 2019, controls about $517 million in assets and ranks as Turkey’s 35th largest bank.
