US Treasury designates Italy-based leftist collective as global terrorist group

The Trump administration’s Treasury and State Departments declared the Autistici/Inventati Collective a Specially Designated Global Terrorist, effectively cutting it off from any U.S. financial interactions. The Italy-based collective provides services such as anonymous email accounts, private messaging and the NoBlogs platform, which far-left activists use to conceal their identities while publishing violent threats, bomb-making bragging, and doxing of political opponents.

U.S. officials highlighted cases from California, Oregon and Georgia where the tools were employed to boast about attacks on government property and pro-life clinics. The State Department also linked the group to European leftist cells that posted material about attacks on rail and energy infrastructure. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent emphasized that the sanctions are part of a broader effort to choke the financial lifelines of extremist networks. The move follows previous designations of other leftist groups and a successful prosecution of a Texas antifa cell tied to the collective’s platform.
