USCIS warns that promises of faster visa or Green Card approval are scams

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services cautioned applicants that offers to speed up visas, Green Cards or work permits for a fee are fraudulent.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services issued a warning on the X platform about scams that promise faster approval of visas, Green Cards or work permits in exchange for money. The agency said some entities pose as immigration experts or claim privileged connections to the government, falsely guaranteeing expedited outcomes. USCIS clarified that immigration benefits follow standard procedures and no individual or organization can assure a specific result.

It reminded applicants that they may file forms without a representative and should seek help only from qualified attorneys or DOJ-accredited representatives. The guidance also listed common tactics used by fraudsters, such as confusing communications, impersonating officials, and deceptive emails. Victims are advised to verify details on official government sites, keep records, and avoid paying fees outside the myUSCIS system.

Why it matters
