USFK commander urges modern logistics and tech to boost sustainment and deterrence

Gen. Xavier Brunson called for upgraded logistics and new technology in exercises, stressing that sustainment enables combat success.

Gen. Xavier Brunson, commander of U.S. Forces Korea, used a post on X following a United Nations Command logistics symposium to press for better logistics and the adoption of modern technology in joint exercises. He argued that sustainment is not merely support but the foundation that allows forces to fight and win, linking endurance in theater to deterrence. Brunson challenged logisticians from participating nations to devise practical solutions and embed new tech in training.

He reiterated plans to create a regional sustainment hub in South Korea, leveraging the country’s defense industrial base to maintain and repair U.S. equipment throughout the Indo-Pacific. The general praised South Korea’s defense production capabilities as among the world’s finest, noting that such cooperation can offset the “tyranny of distance.”

Why it matters

Enhanced logistics and tech integration strengthen U.S. and allied military readiness in the Indo-Pacific.
