USPS raises holiday shipping rates for 2026 season starting Sunday
The United States Postal Service will increase rates for Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage and Parcel Select shipments beginning Sunday and lasting through Jan. 17, 2027.
Starting Sunday, the United States Postal Service will apply temporary rate increases for its holiday 2026 shipping portfolio, covering Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage and Parcel Select. These new rates will stay effective until Jan. 17, 2027. The agency says most customers will see modest single-digit to low double-digit percentage rises, while heavier, long-distance parcels could face steeper hikes.
Smaller Priority Mail items are slated for a lower increase range. The adjustments are designed to cover higher handling and operational expenses that arise during the peak shipping period and to align USPS pricing with competitive practices.
Why it matters
Higher shipping costs will affect businesses and consumers sending packages during the busy holiday period.
