USR and PNL push for parliamentary probe into Mykonos and Nordis luxury trips
The USR and PNL groups in the Chamber of Deputies have filed a new request to create a parliamentary inquiry into recent luxury flights to Mykonos and Nice involving politicians, judges and businesspeople.
In the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, the USR and PNL parliamentary groups have lodged a fresh request to establish a "Mykonos-Nordis" commission tasked with investigating recent luxury air travel to Mykonos and Nice by politicians, judges and entrepreneurs. The motion seeks to trace the organization, invitation process, expenses and funding sources of these private trips, including those originally arranged by the bankrupt airline Nordis.
USR leader Diana Stoica criticized the PSD leadership for allegedly obstructing the initial proposal through procedural abuses in both the Permanent Bureau and the plenary. She also highlighted a recent ministerial appointment for Intotero as evidence of PSD favoritism. According to the Chamber's regulations, a parliamentary inquiry can only be created by a plenary vote, while the Permanent Bureau merely distributes the draft for debate. The proposed committee would consist of 25 deputies reflecting the chamber's political composition, hold public sessions and publish its findings.
Why it matters
The probe could reveal misuse of public or private funds for elite travel and test parliamentary oversight mechanisms.
