USR deputy challenges Alexandru Stoica over PSD's commune-dissolution plan and alleged family ties
USR deputy Radu Mihaiu interrogated MP Alexandru Stoica about a PSD-backed proposal to eliminate communes under 15,000 residents, questioning possible nepotism linked to his father’s mayoralty and a firm called Corleone SRL; Stoica gave no direct reply and PNL deputy Florin Roman defended him, securing a unanimous favorable vote.
In a recent parliamentary hearing, USR deputy Radu Mihaiu confronted Alexandru Stoica about a PSD-driven initiative to dissolve communes with populations under 15,000, questioning why the plan does not pursue a more extensive restructuring akin to Moldova’s sub-3,000-resident model. Mihaiu also highlighted that Stoica’s father is the mayor of a 2,000-resident commune, suggesting a conflict of interest, and insinuated that Stoica’s family benefits from ties to the state and a company formerly known as Corleone SRL.
Stoica responded by directing Mihaiu to USR mayors who had contacted the local mayor and thanked them, without providing a direct answer to the queries. Following this, PNL deputy Florin Roman pointed out procedural issues and defended Stoica, proposing a favorable endorsement that was approved unanimously with 27 votes. The exchange underscored ongoing tensions over local-government reform and accusations of nepotism within Romanian politics.
