UTA expands on-demand microtransit across Utah County and extends free OGX service
Utah Transit Authority is adding its on-demand ride service to nine additional Utah County cities and will keep the Ogden Express free through spring 2028.
Utah Transit Authority is broadening its UTA on Demand microtransit to nine more Utah County municipalities—Alpine, American Fork, Cedar Hills, Eagle Mountain, Highland, Lehi, Lindon, Pleasant Grove and Saratoga Springs—adding 77.3 square miles to the service area as of Monday. The $2.50 curbside rides, booked through an app, operate between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and may carry multiple passengers heading to different destinations.
UTA partners with Via for operations and may deploy Lyft vehicles during peak periods without requiring a separate Lyft app. In parallel, the agency confirmed that the Ogden Express (OGX) bus rapid transit line will stay fare-free until spring 2028, supported by extra federal operating funds. Additional adjustments to the bus network, such as new termini for Routes 470, 472 and 205 and a permanent detour for Route 54, will take effect on Sunday.
UTA officials said the expansions are intended to provide greater flexibility and keep pace with the area’s fast-moving growth. The transit system reported over 40 million boardings last year, with bus ridership near pre-pandemic levels.
Why it matters
Expanded transit options improve mobility for growing Utah communities and keep public transport affordable.
