Utah Governor urges faster industry-government ties at Integrated Warfighter Ecosystem launch
Governor Spencer Cox highlighted the need for tighter collaboration between startups, the Pentagon and academia while unveiling the Integrated Warfighter Ecosystem in Payson.
Speaking at the Integrated Warfighter Ecosystem debut, Utah Governor Spencer Cox urged a more agile partnership among defense firms, the federal government and research institutions to better serve American service members. He warned that bureaucratic delays can leave soldiers waiting for critical equipment, and argued that Utah’s blend of manufacturing, technology and a “culture of service” positions the state to help close those gaps.
The ecosystem, founded by CenCore and comprising over 150 companies, aims to connect innovators directly with the Defense Department. Former Acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller and CenCore CEO Adam Fife discussed the challenges of pitching to the Pentagon and the importance of focusing on the end-user, typically young soldiers. Utah National Guard Adjutant General Michael Kjar also praised the effort, noting its role in keeping troops equipped amid evolving combat technologies.
