Colin Hilton, who led the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation for over two decades, died on August 21, 2026 at the age of 58. Under his direction, the nonprofit has operated key sites built for the 2002 Winter Olympics, including Utah Olympic Park, the Olympic Oval and Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. Hilton consistently advocated for the venues to be accessible to athletes of all skill levels and to benefit surrounding communities.
Colleagues from Utah 2034 highlighted his contributions to the state's successful bid for the 2034 Games and his ability to bring together national and international winter-sport leaders. Utah Senate President Stuart Adams called him a champion of the Olympic and Paralympic legacy. The foundation has appointed its chief operating officer, Calum Clark, as acting president and CEO while it searches for a permanent replacement.
