Utah receives $743,000 boost to help exporters reach global markets

The U.S. Small Business Administration and World Trade Center Utah have awarded $743,000 in State Trade Expansion Program grants to Utah firms for export-related activities.

The Small Business Administration, together with World Trade Center Utah, disclosed that Utah businesses will receive $743,000 through the State Trade Expansion Program. This grant pool, which is 42% larger than last year’s, is intended to fund activities like attending international trade missions, producing foreign-market marketing collateral, using Department of Commerce services, covering travel for sales trips and joining export-training workshops.

World Trade Center Utah President/CEO Jonathan Freedman credited the increase to Utah firms’ effective use of prior grants, while SBA Utah District Director Marla Trollan highlighted the partnership’s role in easing export complexities. Past recipients, such as Nomatic, have reported significant new contracts and revenue growth from the support. Applications are now open, with contact information provided for interested companies.

Why it matters

The funding helps Utah small businesses expand abroad, potentially creating jobs and boosting the state’s economy.
