Utah's 2nd District Congressional Race Features Incumbent Blake Moore and Democrat Peter Crosby

Incumbent Rep. Blake Moore is seeking re-election in Utah’s newly drawn 2nd Congressional District, facing Democratic challenger Peter Crosby and several third-party candidates.

Utah’s newly configured 2nd Congressional District, which includes the state’s northern region, is set for a competitive race on Nov. 3. Rep. Blake Moore, the sole Utah member of congressional leadership and House Republican Caucus Vice Chair, secured the Republican nomination in a heated primary and now confronts Democrat Peter Crosby, a project-management consultant and adjunct professor at Utah State University. Third-party contenders include Independent American Party’s veteran Carlton Bowen, Libertarian bariatric surgeon Daniel Cottam, and unaffiliated system engineer Robert Moesinger.

The candidates addressed voter concerns such as government corruption, affordability of housing and goods, and water-resource management for the Great Salt Lake and Colorado River. Election rules require mail ballots to be received by county clerks by 8 p.m. on Election Day, while drop-box submissions must be made by the same deadline.

Why it matters

The contest will determine Utah’s representation in Congress and reflects voter priorities on corruption, cost of living and water policy.
