Utopai Studios Consolidates APAC Operations, Appoints Hyun Park as Regional President
Utopai Studios has merged its Asia-Pacific joint venture into the main company and named Hyun Park president of the region.
Utopai Studios completed the absorption of its Asia-Pacific joint venture, Utopai East, into its worldwide structure and appointed veteran executive Hyun Park as president of the APAC region. The consolidation unites the Korean production arm, Japanese development team, regional alliances and a slate of more than 18 film and TV projects under one studio umbrella. Park will direct development, production, partnerships and expansion throughout Asia-Pacific while still leading overall IP development for Utopai Studios.
The integration was preceded by the February 2026 purchase of Alquimista Media, Park's Seoul-based company, which supplied a Korean production base and added over 15 scripted projects. Utopai Studios now oversees roughly 25 projects in development and production, with the first slated to start filming in 2026 and releases expected in 2027. CEO Cecilia Shen highlighted Park's blend of creative insight, market knowledge and global experience as key to the next growth phase.
Why it matters
The restructuring positions Utopai Studios to better leverage Asian content for global markets amid rising demand for Korean and Japanese media.
