Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA accused of detaining and torturing three men over alleged gold bangle theft
A BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh, Kunwar Sushant Singh, faces accusations of holding three men hostage and assaulting them after a suspected theft of gold bangles belonging to his son.
Kunwar Sushant Singh, a BJP legislator from Badhapur in Bijnor district, is accused of detaining three young men at his home in Ratupura village, Moradabad district, after they were suspected of stealing gold bangles belonging to his son. According to a complaint lodged by the victims' mother, the men were tied, beaten with belts and sticks, had salt rubbed into their wounds and were subjected to electric shocks. One of the victims, Ramu Kashyap, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a private hospital in Kashipur, Uttarakhand; the other two also suffered injuries.
The complaint also names the MLA's driver and several associates as participants. Police have received the complaint and are investigating, while the MLA has rejected the claims, saying the accusations are unfounded.
