Uttar Pradesh moves ahead with 1,000-acre data centre and IT hub in Bundelkhand
The Uttar Pradesh government is acquiring 1,000 acres in Bundelkhand to build a data centre and IT hub as part of the larger Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority project.
The Uttar Pradesh administration is set to develop a 1,000-acre data centre and information-technology hub in the arid Bundelkhand region, linking it to the broader Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) that covers 56,662 acres. To date, 810 acres have been acquired, and the state has already secured more than 80% of the first phase of BIDA land. The project is designed to provide integrated infrastructure for diverse industrial activities and contribute to the state's $1 trillion economic target.
Chief Secretary S P Goyal has called for an accelerated land-acquisition process for BIDA and other large-scale initiatives. A detailed project report and sector plan have been prepared and await clearance under the BIDA Master Plan 2045, which will allocate the land for industrial, commercial, and infrastructural use.
Why it matters
The hub could boost technology jobs and economic growth in a traditionally underdeveloped region of Uttar Pradesh.
