Uttar Pradesh has outlined a ₹15,000 crore land-acquisition programme to build three new greenfield expressways, totaling 565 km. The Vindhya Expressway (320 km) will require about 4,615 hectares across 109 villages in eastern districts, extending the Ganga Expressway to Sonbhadra via Prayagraj, Bhadohi and Mirzapur. The Meerut-Haridwar Expressway (145 km) will need roughly 2,020 hectares in 184 villages across Amroha, Bijnor and Haridwar district, linking the existing corridor to Uttarakhand.
The 100-km Vindhya Purvanchal Link will acquire 1,560 hectares in 140 villages of Chandauli, Ghazipur and Mirzapur. All three projects are being managed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority. State officials say the network will boost passenger and freight mobility, supporting the goal of a $1 trillion economy by 2030. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of such infrastructure for the state’s investment appeal, and Axis Bank MD & CEO Amitabh Chaudhry observed expanding industrial activity beyond major cities.
