Uttarakhand's voter list shrinks by over 10% after intensive revision

The Election Commission of India released Uttarakhand's final electoral roll, showing a 10.1% reduction to 7.16 million voters after the Special Intensive Revision.

The Election Commission of India published Uttarakhand's final electoral rolls after completing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The updated roll contains 7,158,949 voters, reflecting a 10.1% contraction from the pre-SIR total of 7.96 million. Compared with the draft roll released on July 14, the final list shows a net gain of 25,164 electors, resulting from 129,872 additions and 104,708 deletions during the claims and objections phase.

The majority of deletions were made earlier, when 827,000 entries were removed as uncollectable or duplicate. District-wise, Udham Singh Nagar (14.0%) and Dehradun (13.2%) experienced the steepest declines, while other districts saw deletions ranging from 3.9% to 9.6%. The roll includes 72,656 voters aged 18-19 and 122,892 aged 80+, and the state now operates 12,543 polling stations. Over the objection window, 146,511 Form 6 applications and 193,890 Form 7 cases were filed, with most objections rejected.
