Valencia’s city council is preparing legislation that would specifically target rowdy hen and stag parties, treating them as serious offences if they take place on public streets during night hours. The rule would apply from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday through Friday, extending to 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays and the eve of public holidays, with fines of €750 to €1,500 for unauthorised gatherings. Minor infractions such as wearing genital-themed clothing or carrying inflatable sexual props would attract penalties up to €750, while the highest fines of €1,500 to €3,000 would be reserved for conduct deemed disrespectful, including harassment of vulnerable groups.
Additional provisions would fine street drinking up to €1,500, with doubled penalties near protected buildings, and would also cover vandalism, street harassment and begging. The proposal remains in draft form and must still be reviewed by municipal services before adoption.
Why it matters
The measure could significantly curb nighttime disturbances and affect how private parties are organised in Valencia.
