Valve's leaked videos reveal Steam Frame unboxing and setup steps

Valve posted several internal videos that demonstrate how to unbox, configure and use the Steam Frame VR headset before quickly removing them.

Valve inadvertently released a series of internal videos that illustrate the Steam Frame virtual-reality headset's unboxing and installation process, then promptly retracted them. The footage, which surfaced on the ARM Steam client after a software update, details how to adjust the headset using its pivot arms, add a spacer for glasses, and connect the wireless dongle to a PC or Steam Machine. An accompanying Ergonomic Accessories Kit is highlighted, offering hand straps, an additional head strap for better weight distribution, and a light-blocking insert for users with smaller noses.

The Steam Frame, unveiled last year, boasts 2160 × 2160 LCD screens per eye, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and up to a 110-degree field of view. While Valve has said the device will ship this summer, no precise launch date has been disclosed. The presence of these videos, together with a recent large shipment of VR headsets, hints that a commercial debut may be imminent.

The leak gives consumers and developers a clearer view of Valve's upcoming VR hardware and its potential market timing.
