Van crashes into Neelum Valley ravine, killing four children and injuring three

A van transporting children to a madrasah fell into a deep ravine in Neelum Valley, killing four youngsters and wounding three others.

Around 8:30 am on Saturday, a passenger van carrying children to a madrasah left Nagdar and headed toward Athmuqam via the Keran bypass link road. As the driver negotiated a tight curve near Ghorray Nakkah Morr, the vehicle left the road and dropped over 500 metres into a steep, rocky ravine in the upper Neelum Valley. Three children were killed on impact, and a fourth child died later at the District Headquarters Hospital in Athmuqam after being hospitalized.

Three other occupants were seriously injured and were transferred to Muzaffarabad for treatment. District Disaster Management Officer Akhtar Ayoub described the accident, while Legislative Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Tariq Farooq offered condolences and warned drivers to exercise extreme care on mountain routes. The tragedy follows similar recent crashes in the region involving passenger vans and jeeps.
