Van Jones Calls Abdul El-Sayed’s Israel Policy ‘Dangerous’ and ‘Insane’

In a recent episode of the Ask Haviv Anything podcast, Van Jones—who served as the Obama administration’s green-jobs czar and now appears on one outlet—described Abdul El-Sayed’s foreign-policy platform as “dangerous” and “insane.” Jones said El-Sayed advocates ending all U.S. military assistance to Israel, including defensive weapons such as interceptors, which he called an “insane” stance. He clarified that while some Democrats argue for conditioning aid in response to Israeli actions in Gaza, the West Bank or Lebanon, El-Sayed’s position calls for a complete embargo.

Jones explained he can understand the impulse to demand Israel fund its own defense, but finds El-Sayed’s total cut-off unacceptable. The criticism highlights intra-Democratic disagreement over Israel policy as El-Sayed seeks Jewish voter support in his Michigan campaign.
