Vancouver police officer and charity chief Kal Dosanjh faces multiple fraud and theft charges

Vancouver police officer and KidsPlay Youth Foundation CEO Kal Dosanjh was arrested on several fraud, theft and breach-of-trust counts dating back to 2017.

Kal Dosanjh, a veteran Vancouver Police Department officer and founder of the KidsPlay Youth Foundation, was arrested on Thursday and faces a series of fraud, theft and breach-of-trust charges. The alleged misconduct stretches from January 2017 to October 2024 for property-development schemes, including the Azura, Queen's Park and Sahara projects, and from December 2017 to July 2025 for misappropriation of charity funds.

Sarabjit Singh Gill is listed as a co-defendant, and the two have been involved in multiple civil actions over the same ventures, which they have both denied. In addition to the financial accusations, Dosanjh is charged with one count of breach of trust as a public officer. Police removed items from his residence following the arrest. His legal team maintains his innocence, emphasizing that an arrest does not prove guilt.
