A Vancouver company’s staff uncovered a massive cocaine shipment hidden inside boxes of t-shirts, prompting a police call on July 21. Vancouver police later confirmed the haul weighed 328.55 kg and is valued at roughly $5.8 million, marking the biggest cocaine bust in the department’s history. The narcotics were traced to a shipping container that departed Honduras on May 18, was intercepted in Jamaica on June 6, and reached Montreal on July 5 before being diverted to the Vancouver business.
Sgt. Travis Fraser noted the business had no connection to the drugs and was shocked by the find. Authorities believe an organized crime network orchestrated the concealment, though no arrests or suspect information have been disclosed. The investigation involves cooperation with law-enforcement agencies across Canada, Honduras, Jamaica and the United States.
