Vandalism damages Åråsen stadium after Lillestrøm-Vålerenga derby

Lillestrøm secured a 2-0 victory over Vålerenga, thanks to goals from Ruben Gabrielsen and Thomas Lehne Olsen. In the wake of the match, the away stand at Åråsen stadium suffered serious vandalism: seats were torn from the structure and tossed onto the field, LED advertising boards were damaged, and fire-related burns appeared on the grass. Lillestrøm SK managing director Robert Lauritsen reported destruction of the terrace, restroom facilities and other equipment, stating the club will first compile a full cost estimate before seeking payment from Vålerenga.

He expressed confidence that a resolution can be reached through dialogue. Vålerenga’s managing director Svein Graff expressed regret over the incident, noting that a minority of supporters caused the damage and that the club will engage with Lillestrøm once the extent of the harm is known.
