Vehicle breaches fence at Leipzig/Halle Airport, runway closed and suspects surrender

A vehicle breached the security fence at Leipzig/Halle Airport early Saturday night. Police and the Bundespolizei launched a night‑time operation that included ground teams, a police helicopter and drone surveillance to sweep the area. The airport's north runway has been closed while the site is examined further. By Sunday morning the sweep had not located the vehicle or any persons, but a 20‑year‑old and a 32‑year‑old later presented themselves to police, saying they were using the car for a driving‑test practice. Authorities say the search for hazardous objects will continue.
