Vehicle rolls backward on uphill road, killing child and injuring mother in Sultan Kudarat

A five-year-old girl died and her mother was hurt after a vehicle stalled and rolled downhill in Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the accident happened around 4:30 p.m. in Purok Sambag, Barangay South Sepaka, when a white Midi Gratour driven by Jerry Jisim Requiso lost engine power while climbing an incline. The vehicle rolled backward and struck the child and her mother. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene, while the mother sustained injuries. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the engine failure.
