Venice mayor seeks investors and climate partners during New York Climate Week

Simone Venturini, mayor of Venice, spent several days in New York as part of the United Nations Climate Week, acting as speaker, attendee and liaison. He used the platform to showcase Venice’s unique challenges and solutions regarding lagoon protection, high-water events and sustainable development, positioning the city as a laboratory for climate adaptation. Venturini’s itinerary included a brief dialogue with French President Emmanuel Macron, a meeting with Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani, and participation in a public session at Regen House.

Accompanying him were Francesco Musco, president of the research consortium Corila, and a research director from Iuav University, who presented joint projects at Columbia University and New York University. The delegation also attended a round-table hosted by the Global Center for Climate Mobility, discussing coastal city collaborations under the UN sea-level rise declaration. The trip concluded with the unveiling of the “Venice Climate Week 2027” program at the Planet Aqua + Planet Peace event, aiming to draw investors and partners for urban regeneration, cultural, and innovation initiatives.
