Venmo and PayPal Expand to Accept College Tuition Payments
PayPal's Venmo service will now let students and families pay tuition through the app, partnering with several education-payment platforms.
PayPal disclosed that its Venmo platform will accept tuition payments, joining forces with education-payment providers Illumia, Nelnet Campus Commerce and TouchNet. These partners collectively serve a large network of colleges and universities, offering students another avenue to settle large bills. Jackie Strohbehn, president of Nelnet Campus Commerce, emphasized that expanding payment options reduces friction and helps keep affordability from becoming a barrier to enrollment.
Jeremy Loch, president of TouchNet, described the integration as a way to create a seamless experience for both tuition payers and schools. The announcement positions Venmo alongside traditional payment portals, allowing users to handle one of their biggest expenses within the familiar app interface.
