Venture Capitalist Tim Draper Puts Tanzanian Private Island Up for Sale

Tim Draper, a venture-capital billionaire with a history of backing Tesla, SpaceX and crypto ventures, is putting his privately owned Lupita Island on Lake Tanganyika up for sale. He listed the 110-acre estate at $7.9 million but indicated he would entertain the highest offer received. In a recent X post, Draper explained that he does not use the island enough and invited interested parties to contact him via a provided email address.

He reported receiving multiple offers shortly after posting on Friday and expects the deal to close swiftly. The island, purchased in 2004, includes ten cottages, a spa, gym, game room, several bars, a pool and a 46-foot boat named the Windsor Rose, with activities ranging from kayaking to safari trips on the mainland. Prospective buyers must fly into a major Tanzanian airport, then either charter a private jet to a private airstrip or travel by road to Mpanda Airport before taking a boat to the island.
