Verbund raises electricity rates for new customers under Austria tariff
Verbund announced higher electricity prices for new subscribers, moving the first-year net rate to 10.0 ¢/kWh and the second year to 15 ¢/kWh, while existing customers keep their current tariff.
Verbund, a semi-governmental energy provider, said it will lift the electricity price for new customers under its Austria-Tarif. The net price for the first contract year will rise from 9.50 ¢ to 10.0 ¢ per kilowatt-hour, and in the second year it will increase further to 15 ¢ per kWh. The tariff includes a fixed monthly base charge of €4.20 net, which remains the same in the new scheme.
Current subscribers will continue to pay the existing rates. The company introduced the Austria-Tarif in February as a fixed-price plan with a discounted usage price and a stable base fee. Verbund explained that the hike reflects difficult market conditions affecting electricity costs.
