Vermont teachers union adopts resolutions on trans sports participation and white supremacy culture

During the 2025 Representative Assembly, the Vermont chapter of the National Education Association adopted a series of resolutions covering a range of issues. One resolution on one outlet equity states that all students should be able to join recreational sports based on their gender identity, not biological sex, and calls for equal funding for male and female programs. Another resolution obliges educators to acknowledge the existence of white supremacy culture and its role in perpetuating racial and social injustice, urging active advocacy to eliminate institutional racism and white privilege.

The union also endorsed sanctuary city policies and condemned the detention of families for immigration status offenses. Defending Education obtained the 33-page document and warned parents that the union is pushing a far-left agenda while academic performance concerns persist. The resolutions also address traditional topics such as school financing, teacher pay, and climate change recognition.
