Verstappen rockets from last to first in Silverstone kart challenge
Max Verstappen started at the back of a crowded kart race at Silverstone and surged to victory in just 35 minutes.
Red Bull staged a special karting competition at Silverstone for its star driver Max Verstappen, who started from the very last grid slot. Despite the daunting start, he vaulted up the field on the opening lap, gaining many places instantly. The race featured a large number of amateur participants, some of whom were removed from the track after being overtaken.
Verstappen maintained his pace, and after 35 minutes the event concluded with his final pass, earning him the top spot. He described the experience as "simply lovely" over the radio. Among the entrants was Finnish social-media influencer Daniel Ahola. The F1 season continues next week with a race in Azerbaijan.
Why it matters
