Veteran Actress and Former Librarian Bunny Levine Dies at Age 97

Bunny Levine, who transitioned from a school librarian to a prolific TV and film actress, passed away peacefully at 97 in Tarzana, California.

Bunny Levine, born on December 22, 1928, in East Orange, New Jersey, cultivated an early love of performance but delayed it to raise three children and work as a school librarian for a quarter-century. Following her retirement, she enrolled in acting classes and began auditioning, moving to Los Angeles after the 2003 death of her husband Bernard Levine. Over the ensuing decades she built a substantial résumé, guest-starring on series such as Gilmore Girls, Law & Order, Ugly Betty, and The Mindy Project, and appearing in movies including You Don’t Mess With the Zohan, La La Land, and Thelma.

Levine remained active in the industry well into her 90s, with recent credits in The Invisible Raptor, Sacramento, and The Upshaws. On Thursday, she died peacefully in her sleep at her Tarzana home, a fact.
