Veteran bantamweight Ketlen Vieira leaves UFC for PFL title shot after contract cut

After the UFC chose not to renew her contract, Ketlen Vieira signed with the PFL and will face champion Cris Cyborg in Tampa on Aug. 22.

Ketlen Vieira, who rose to prominence after victories over Sara McMann and Cat Zingano and remained among the division’s elite, was informed that the UFC would not offer her a fresh contract after her May win over Jacqueline Cavalcanti. The news struck her as unexpected, especially given her recent success and belief that she outperformed many bantamweight peers. Within days, she signed with the Professional Fighters League, securing a main-event bout against featherweight champion Cris Cyborg at PFL Tampa on Aug. 22.

Vieira praised the PFL for valuing her as an athlete and highlighted the significance of finally earning a title fight after a decade in the UFC. She also reflected on the UFC’s possible waning interest in women’s divisions but remained grateful for the platform the organization provided. Looking ahead, she trusts her faith and anticipates that the move will bring new successes.
