Veteran drag racer Chris "Block" Gordon dies after crash at Ohio track

Chris “Block” Gordon, a 40-year-old drag racing veteran, died Saturday after a severe collision at KD Motorsports Park in South Webster, Scioto County, Ohio. The venue’s Facebook one outlet confirmed the tragedy and asked the public to keep Gordon’s wife and family in their thoughts. Emergency crews, including trained medical staff, firefighters and EMTs, arrived promptly and attempted to treat the injuries, but no further details about the crash were released.

Gordon grew up in South Carolina, inspired by his father’s grudge-racing career, and later rose to prominence on Discovery’s “Street Outlaws: Fastest in America,” where his 1979 Ford Fairmont, called “Mayhem,” became iconic. Former classmates and neighbors shared memories of his upbeat personality on social media. The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office has not responded to inquiries at this time.
