Veteran Television guitarist Richard Lloyd battles rare bile-duct cancer, fundraising launched
A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help guitarist Richard Lloyd, 74, cover medical and living expenses after his diagnosis with cholangiocarcinoma.
Guitarist Richard Lloyd, aged 74 and known for his work with Television, received a diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma, a scarce and fast-progressing form of bile-duct cancer. Unable to work due to the illness, his bandmate Sean Seymour launched a GoFundMe page, noting that Lloyd’s wife, Sheila O’Keefe, has become his full-time caretaker after quitting her employment. Lloyd’s condition includes liver tumors and a growth near a major blood vessel, rendering surgery unfeasible, and he has required ICU care seven times for tumor-related issues.
The fundraising effort has accumulated $48,000, surpassing half of its $80,000 goal. Patti Smith confirmed a $5,000 donation, citing gratitude for Lloyd’s musical contributions.
