Viaplay’s new series spotlights royal sister and prime-minister’s child in alternative-therapy hype

Viaplay launched the six-part series “Alternative Norge,” which explores Norway’s alternative-healing scene, from shamans to psychic healers. Among the participants are Princess Märtha Louise, sister to King Haakon, who appears without using her royal title in the show, and Magnus Støre, a breath-therapy instructor who foregrounds his relationship to the country’s prime minister in promotional material. Støre has previously been described in media as the prime minister’s eldest son and runs a retreat centre in Hurum. Critics argue that the programme gives undue credibility to these personalities and serves their commercial ventures, while failing to question the legitimacy of the alternative practices presented.
