Groups like AI Tinkerers Singapore, rebranded as Natives, now host demo nights and workshops that regularly fill venues beyond capacity, while 65labs' 2025 hackathon attracted over 1,000 applicants and produced nearly 150 working projects. The momentum convinced major AI players such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, and Cognition to establish Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, creating hundreds of jobs. The AI Engineer conference in May 2026 drew more than 1,000 attendees, featuring speakers from top AI firms and a surprise talk by foreign minister Vivian Balakrishnan about his own tinkering with NanoClaw agents. The overall surge signals that Singapore is evolving into a notable AI hub, with increasing participation from non-technical founders like Nehal Agrawal who now leverage AI tools to launch startups.
