Vibram's Outsole Expertise Fuels Triple Growth and New Global Partnerships
Vibram has tripled its revenue since 2018 by shifting from simple part supplier to problem-solver, securing deals with major brands like Nike, Brooks and Altra.
Vibram, a privately held Italian specialist in rubber outsoles, has seen its business triple since 2018 by evolving from a basic parts supplier to a collaborative problem-solver for major footwear brands. New collaborations with Nike, Brooks, Arc’teryx, Altra and legacy partners such as Merrell and The North Face have expanded its retail exposure by almost six times, with the United States and China leading the demand.
The company’s proprietary rubber compounds, which resist freezing temperatures for mountain runners and melting heat for wildland firefighters, have become a trusted feature for consumers, symbolised by the distinctive yellow tag. According to global chief brand and consumer officer Fabrizio Gamberini, Vibram’s singular focus on outsoles and its ability to tweak formulas for specific needs underpin its premium positioning.
Recent product launches include Nike’s ACG Ultrafly, Brooks’ Cascadia line with Megagrip, and an exclusive Altra outsole, while the firm eyes further expansion into sports such as golf, tennis and surfing. Continuous testing with machinery and athletes ensures each modification meets rigorous performance standards.
