Victor Davis Hanson warns Tucker Carlson's third-party scheme could backfire

Victor Davis Hanson, speaking on one outlet's video, critiques Tucker Carlson’s recent effort to convene MAGA conservatives around a possible 2028 third-party candidacy.

Hanson observes that eight of the ten policy points the group endorses mirror Donald Trump’s positions, with only opposition to overseas wars and criticism of Israeli influence marking a departure. He attributes the initiative to personal setbacks suffered by figures like Carlson, Marjorie Taylor-Greene, Thomas Massie, Joe Kent and Tulsi Gabbard, as well as an undercurrent of anti-Israel and antisemitic sentiment. Concluding that the venture lacks precedent and is likely to act as a spoiler, Hanson warns it could unintentionally aid the political opponents of the Trump-aligned agenda.
