Video shows soldiers beating sleeping migrants in Ceuta, survivors recount injuries

A video circulating online depicts Spanish soldiers violently assaulting migrants who were sleeping in a vehicle in Ceuta, with several survivors describing severe injuries.

A video released by Border Resistance captures Spanish military personnel entering a vacant lot in Ceuta and violently attacking migrants sleeping inside a car. The soldiers opened the vehicle doors, beat the occupants, and forced them to run, during which a teenager fell down a steep slope after being struck. Two survivors, a 17-year-old named Aiman and a 19-year-old named Ibrahim, recount multiple blows to the head, arms and ears, requiring stitches and leaving lasting pain.

Neighbouring residents intervened, prompting the soldiers to retreat without providing medical aid or calling an ambulance. Amnesty International has highlighted the risk of these migrants being returned to Morocco amid ongoing eviction operations, and has called for stronger protections for the victims. The Ministry of Defence has not responded to inquiries, while the Spanish government has expressed concern and announced an internal investigation.
