A video shared on Facebook on Friday night records a young pedestrian crossing the zebra line near Vígszínház on Szent István körút, then moving toward the Honvéd utca crossing, when another man approaches from the side, drags him to the ground and repeatedly punches his head, leaving him lying still on the pavement. Emergency services arrived within moments to provide medical aid. Several onlookers, among them probable security guards from a nearby entertainment venue, encircled the attacker and stopped him from fleeing.
Police subsequently arrived, arrested the suspect, and opened a criminal proceeding for attempted serious bodily harm. The incident underscores concerns about street violence and the rapid response of law-enforcement in the capital.
