Vienna Airport passenger traffic falls in September as Zurich Airport records passenger surge
In September, Vienna Airport’s Schwechat hub saw a decline in passenger movements, which the operator attributed to a reduced low‑cost schedule and route suspensions linked to the Middle East crisis. Flight movements at Vienna dropped by more than six percent, while cargo handling rose by nearly ten percent. At the same time, Zurich Airport reported its highest monthly passenger total to date, but average passengers per flight fell and on‑time performance slipped to below two‑thirds of movements. Freight volumes at Zurich increased slightly and the number of flights after 23:00 declined compared with the previous year.
