Vietnam's VNVC and Pfizer sign new pact to boost local vaccine production
Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company and Pfizer exchanged cooperation documents in New York, aiming to expand Vietnam's vaccine manufacturing and public-health capacity.
During a side event at the 81st UN General Assembly, Vietnam's Party General Secretary and President To Lam met with Pfizer in New York to exchange cooperation documents. The new arrangement builds on a March 2025 memorandum that pledged Pfizer's technical support for an internationally compliant manufacturing facility in Vietnam. VNVC, which runs close to 300 vaccination sites, plans a plant in Tay Ninh Province designed for 100-120 million doses annually and compliant with WHO-GMP, EU-GMP and FDA-cGMP standards, with infrastructure expected to be ready by 2027-2028.
The collaboration seeks to satisfy Vietnam's immediate vaccine needs and later enable the country to contribute to the worldwide vaccine market. VNVC is simultaneously exploring joint production of a six-in-one vaccine, an influenza shot, and a quadrivalent meningococcal vaccine with Sanofi, while maintaining partnerships with GSK, RDIF, Gamaleya, Binnopharm and Medsintez.
